Hello! wins 2017 Gala AwardOn January 13, 2017, at The Special Event Conference and Tradeshow in Long Beach, California, Hello! Destination Management won our sixth Gala Award. With over thirty nominations over the last twenty years, Hello! is thrilled to once again receive the event industry’s highest honor. Hello Florida and BRAVO! Entertainment’s Amway America’s Family Day production won the Gala Award for Best Entertainment Production Over $100,000.

Amway America’s Family Day was held on Thursday, December 3rd
from 2:30pm-7:00pm at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. This was a first of
its kind event, which brought together over 8,000 of the company’s top
corporate staff and independent business owners and their families from Amway’s
North American operation. In previous years, the North America, Central &
South America, and Brazil regions would have a separate annual meeting, each of
which would be considered large by comparison to other conferences. This meant
that attendees were made up of a wide variety of demographics, including a
large percentage (nearly 1,500) children under the age of 12 and in excess of
20 languages spoken by attendees.

Based on the sheer size and scope of the events at the
company’s typical yearly meeting, the stakes were high for this first-time
event to set the precedent for what the Amway events team hoped would become a
biennial event. The purpose of this event was first and foremost
to incentivize the Amway team.  Amway is
a company that manufactures household, beauty and healthcare products and then
sells them through a network of independent business owners. In order to attend
this once-in-a-lifetime experience, Amway challenged its IBOs to meet certain
benchmarks. This incentivization was the driving force behind this event, and
contributed to the intense energy that permeated the entire experience.

The
other purpose of the event was to showcase the scale and awesome culture of
Amway to its IBOs. For the majority of attendees, this was their first time
attending an event of this size. They don’t work in traditional offices,
either, and don’t interact with many of their coworkers on a daily basis
because of the nature of the independent business model. Amway wanted to bring
all of their top IBO’s together for the first time to treat them to an
incredible experience that would inspire them to set even loftier goals for
themselves once they returned home. Hello! and BRAVO! Entertainment created a custom show to completely immerse the
attendees into an experience that would completely captivate them.

The Gala Awards have been given by Special Events Magazine, the premier industry publication, since 1986, when the awards honored the "top 10 events of 1985." They recognize the finest work in special events worldwide.  For the 2017 Gala Awards, the magazine received entries in 34 categories from nine countries: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, India, Ireland, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Members of the Special Events magazine Advisory Board, made up of leaders in the event profession, review all entries to determine the nominees and winners.  The Gala Awards were presented on Jan. 13 at a black-tie ceremony in Long Beach, Calif. Hello! is grateful and honored to receive this recognition.
