One other distinguishing factor is that Themed Events are a specific area of strength for Hello! Destination Management. We recognize that the Themed Event discipline is so diverse and ever changing it’s impossible to be cutting edge without focus. Headed by Mark Wells, Sr. Vice President of Creative Services, we have a team of twenty-one Creative Services professionals whose sole responsibility is the design and production of themed events.
Employing this expertise is unusual for a DMC. For most DMCs, the Account Executive is responsible for being the "expert" for all hospitality services available in their market: transportation, dining, venues, activities, tours, etcetera, and themed events. The result is that the Account Executive depends entirely on a theme prop supplier for creativity. Meaning, they send the event specifications to a supplier, who creates the proposal focusing on the profitability of their décor inventory, not the vision of the client. Then the DMC adds a mark-up and incorporates it into their proposal.
Since we have taken the responsibility of integrating the Creative Services skills into our internal team structure, we provide unique and individualized themes and concepts for our clients and hotel partner. Our Creative Services team is constantly scouring our marketplace and others, via special event tradeshows and industry associations usually reserved for production and event companies, so we can bring our customers cutting edge ideas. We listen to our customers and create their vision with unmatched expertise, rather than selling them "our" theme party. The results are phenomenal, as you can see in this video.
As we produce each event, our product and process is evolving to be better than the one before. Hello! is carving out a new definition for what a DMC can do and we plan to continue to expand that definition.
